Services |
- Screenings
A screening provides parents with information as to
whether a full evaluation is necessary.
Screenings generally last 15-20 minutes and are free.
- Evaluations
Full evaluations provide detailed information on a
multitude of communication parameters compared
to peers the child’s age. Evaluations are generally
scheduled for two hour sessions. Parents receive a
written evaluation that includes recommendations and
goals, if applicable.
Parameters assessed include:

Expressive language: Child’s
ability to communicate self verbally.
- Syntax: Ability to use correct
grammar / parts of speech.
- Semantics: Ability to organize
message in order to make sense to listener.

Receptive language: Ability to
understand and follow simple and complex directions.

Auditory Processing: Ability to
process, remember, and manipulate message heard.
Plays a critical role in reading (decoding) and
spelling development.

Pragmatics: Ability to recognize
and use appropriate social skills such as eye contact,
proximity to speaker, and greetings and closure
of conversations.

Articulation: Ability to produce
sounds of speech.

Oral Motor Skills: Strength,
range of motion, and flexibility of the tongue,
lips, jaw, and face in order to produce speech sounds.

Voice: Clarity and pitch of speech.

Fluency: Smoothness and flow
of speech.
