Ellen
E. Holloway M.A. CCC-SLP — Founder
Ellen Holloway founded The Speech Garden,
LLC in 2003 in response to parent’s requests for classroom-based
summer therapy. She has 8 years experience as an educator
and speech-language pathologist. She is a graduate of UNC-Wilmington
with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and holds
a Master of Arts from UNC-Greensboro in Speech-Language Pathology.
She has elementary education experience in private and public
schools. As a certified K-6 teacher, Ellen has taught all
elementary ages with specific experience in second, third
and preschool classes.
Her speech-language therapy experience is also diverse. She
has worked in various settings including inpatient hospital,
outpatient and university clinics, nursing facilities, private
practice and elementary and Pre-K schools. Ellen enjoys working
with teachers and parents to implement language therapy in
a naturalistic environment.
The Speech Garden places a strong emphasis on therapy solutions
for children. Ellen’s love lies in helping children
with language disorders experience success by learning strageties
to reduce frustration and improve areas of language to effectively
communicate with family and peers. Ellen has used her experience
as an educator to provide strong curriculum-based speech therapy
models that encompass natural settings, integrate literacy,
music, and movement in a FUN environment. Ellen’s
expertise lies in implementing positive change in social,
receptive, and expressive language, as well as articulation
and oral motor skills, using individual and classroom based
approaches.
Ellen is an active member in NCSHLA (North Carolina Speech
Hearing Language Association), ASHA (American Speech Hearing
Association), and NCASSPA (North Carolina Association of Supervisors
in Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology). Ellen and her
husband Allen reside in Charlotte, NC and are the proud parents
of three-year old, red-head Hope and eighteen month-old Connor.
Ellen enjoys working, spending time with family, sewing, decorating
and traveling.
